Thank you for the information, but I do think the quote about file>print is completely wrong taken. Most people in my humble opinion use a shortcut like cntl+p, apple+p or click the print button in their browser.
So, I think there is not need any more for a printer friendly button. Save clicks, opening other pages, etc.

Hi!
You can try <a href='http://www.estimix.com' rel="nofollow">www.estimix.com</a> – a free tool that provides a nice summary of the website performance. The estimation provided by estimix is the result of a complex analysis based on factors like: the age of the website, the demographic structure of the traffic, the countries where the website is popular and sources of the traffic.

Nice! I will definitely have to dig into these - but would also like to give a nod to the tutorial that got me started with themes. http://www.wpdesigner.com/2007/02/19/so-you-want-to-create-wordpress-themes-huh/
Dumb title, good step by step tutorial to get you started.

Becky, I disagree. Try days or months to fix the bugs. :-)

Seriously, I despise IE6 like the next person. But there's no reason to just throw up the hands like I've been doing recently. So if something can't look the same or right, then use conditional comments, a IE-centric solution, to deliver a dumbed-down version. And I personally might make mention just for IE6 users that the information is being displayed more simplistically for an obsolete browser (not sure how far I'd take that, just another mini-rant there.

A great example of this is Andy Clark's website, [ http://www.stuffandnonsense.co.uk/ ]. Look at the site in any standards compliant browser, then look at it in IE6. I believe it gives us a glimpse of how to mentally approach these challenges.

As for the costs involved, I'd state upfront (if you know that the site will require IE6 work due to traffic patterns) that extra work will be necessary to account for this browser.

I would also say that it is up to us designers to become knowledge experts on IE bugs and how to avoid/resolve them. The challenge is to uncover solutions to unexpected issues as quickly and effectively as possible.

OK Dennis, I concede this point, we can't leave a chunk of users in the dust. However, getting things to work in IE6 can take many extra hours - how do we as designers justify and explain the cost involved?

OMG. i just had the most frustrating support chat with CC regarding this tracking tag. the docs suck. and all the chat guy would do is tell me that they don't provide XHTML support. it's not XHTML support you dork! it's support for your proprietary tracking system.

thanks so much for clarifying in seconds what their stupid tag does, in a fashion that they couldn't seem to muster.

The fact that Classmates makes me pay to connect while there are others that don't is what I don't get. I have paid for the GOLD membership, but it is pretty one-sided since no one else I knew was with Gold. It just was not worth it. And I found myself drifting back to Facebook just so I could connect and mail and post pictures with my classmates. I appreciate Clasmates trying to make a dollar, but the model seems outdated. Free it up, charge more for ads, and then see if people flock to it or not. For now, I'm sticking with Facebook for friends and LinkedIn for business.

Enjoy.
